chore(legal): name the licensor as WAVE Online, LLC

What

Replaces the retired licensor string WAVE, Inc. / WAVE Inc. with the company of record, WAVE Online, LLC, in the legal text and package metadata this repository ships. Nothing else changes: no code, no version bump, no release.

Files (2):

  • LICENSE
  • NOTICE

The wording matches wave-av/sdk-python byte for byte (Apache appendix Copyright 2026 WAVE Online, LLC; NOTICE copyright, "developed at" and trademark lines).

Why

WAVE, Inc. is not a WAVE legal entity; the company of record is WAVE Online, LLC: it is the entity named on wave.online's terms, acceptable-use and DMCA pages (checked live on 2026-09-30, zero matches for the old name), and it is the licensor already used by wave-av/sdk-python and by the author field of the published npm packages. The old string was leftover boilerplate, and it put two different licensor names inside the same shipped packages. A license grant should name the company that actually grants it.

This carries out go-live decision #18, ruled by the operator on 2026-09-28: wave-sdk stays the canonical Python SDK, the legal entity is "WAVE Online, LLC" everywhere, and the corrected text reaches registries with each package's next planned release rather than through extra patch releases. The retired PyPI name wave-av-sdk stays yanked and is not deleted.

Where this ships

The npm package @wave-av/cli packs LICENSE and NOTICE. The live 1.0.10 tarball's package.json says author: WAVE Online, LLC while package/LICENSE:189 and three lines of package/NOTICE say WAVE, Inc. (checked against registry.npmjs.org on 2026-09-30). The corrected text reaches npm with the first release cut after this merges (the open #84 does not touch these files).

Verification

Run on this branch (origin/main + this one commit) in a fresh clone:

  • npm run type-check: exit 0
  • npm test (vitest): 14 files, 139/139 passed (includes the license-audit test that packs this repo and runs the offline license gate)
  • npm run license:check: exit 0
  • scripts/public-repo-guard/content-policy.sh .: exit 0
  • git grep -nIE 'WAVE,? Inc([^a-zA-Z]|$)' over the whole tree (CHANGELOG history excluded): 0 matches
  • The org's license-truth gate with its new licensor check (from the companion change that adds the licensor check), run with --local: 2 retired-legal-entity finding(s) on origin/main, 0 on this branch

Undo

A text-only commit: git revert of the merge restores the previous wording. Nothing was published, so there is nothing to roll back on any registry.

Overview
Updates shipped legal text so the licensor is consistently WAVE Online, LLC instead of the retired WAVE, Inc. string.

In LICENSE, the Apache appendix copyright line is changed. In NOTICE, the copyright, “developed at,” and trademark-holder lines are updated to match wave-av/sdk-python wording. No application code, versions, or release behavior change; corrected text reaches npm when the next package release is cut after merge.
