sdks: SDK folders come from each release, under the PolyForm Shield License

From the next JavaScript, Python and Elixir SDK releases on, each release opens a pull request that replaces sdks/javascript/sdk, sdks/python/sdk or sdks/elixir/sdk with that release's source and samples. No tests, build files or lockfiles. This prepares the repository for those pull requests and moves the SDKs that Moss releases sync into sdks/ to the PolyForm Shield License the packages ship. The Go SDK, written by outside contributors, stays under BSD 2-Clause.

  • Removes sdks/javascript/bindings, sdks/python/bindings and sdks/elixir/bindings, snapshots of the native bindings that no release updates.
  • python-sdk-test keeps its name and Python matrix, so the required checks still report, but now compiles the source and samples instead of installing and testing the package, which the folder will no longer carry a manifest for.
  • The root ruff run skips the three release-built folders. The releases run their own checks, and the synced samples load .env before their imports.
  • Swift carries the PolyForm Shield LICENSE.txt now; JavaScript, Python and Elixir get theirs with their next sync.
  • README, CONTRIBUTING and AGENTS.md describe the folders, point installs to the registries, and state the license: PolyForm Shield for the release-synced SDKs, BSD 2-Clause for the Go SDK and everything else. Pull requests against the release-built folders are welcome: maintainers bring an accepted change into the SDK's next release, thank its author in that release's CHANGELOG, and close the pull request with a link to the release.

Merge this before, or together with, the first sync pull request.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation

    • Updated SDK guidance to clarify that JavaScript, Python, and Elixir folders contain release source and samples, and direct contributors to shared release and pull-request instructions.
    • Updated repository and contribution documentation to distinguish SDK licensing from BSD-licensed code. The Swift SDK now uses PolyForm Shield; JavaScript, Python, and Elixir transition with their next releases.
  • Chores

    • Simplified Python CI checks to compile SDK source and samples; adjusted linting to skip SDK folders and notebooks.
    • Removed the existing JavaScript, Python, and Elixir binding packages and their setup materials.
