Add Spring AI Privacy Guardrails to Extensions and Forks
Adds Spring AI Privacy Guardrails to the Extensions and Forks section.
What it is
Spring AI Privacy Guardrails is an open-source library for applying privacy boundaries around PII in Spring AI applications.
Detected sensitive values are replaced with request-scoped opaque tokens before model calls. At protected tool boundaries, original values are restored only when explicitly allowed by policy, and sensitive values returned by tools are protected again before model re-entry.
Spring AI integration
The library integrates with Spring AI at ChatClient and tool-calling boundaries. The same protection model applies to supported RAG context, chat memory, local tools, MCP tool flows, and optional final-response protection.
PII detection is pluggable, with built-in Regex support and optional integrations with Presidio and OpenNLP.
Project status
Spring Boot starters are published on Maven Central, and the repository includes documentation, unit and integration tests, and a runnable Privacy Boundary Inspector covering Local Tool, RAG, and Streamable HTTP MCP scenarios without requiring cloud model credentials.
The project was also mentioned in the Spring Blog post This Week in Spring — August 18, 2026.
