A chat that the Chief or another chat's agent runs now says so over the composer: "claude-sr2-coord is managing this chat [Take over]". It works like ChatGPT's line for a chat its agent runs.

Leo, 2026-11-01, on ChatGPT's "Lumi is managing this task / Take over": "they even show chief-operated chats".

Shows on

  • a chat a Chief started (its mux.parent tag is optchat-chief or optchat-chief:<home>): "Chief is managing this chat"
  • a sub-session (startedBy) or a chat another agent made (spawnedBy): that chat's title, which opens it
  • not on the person's own chats, and not when the manager isn't in the session list

Take over hides the line for that chat on this Mac (local storage, at most 200 chats) and focuses the composer. The person's own prompt already goes in ahead of the manager's next message, and acpmux's pair guard counts it as person input. Holding the manager's later messages until the person hands the chat back belongs in acpmux and is a follow-up.

Files

  • managedBy.ts holds the logic, tested in managedBy.test.ts.
  • sessionList.ts reads the chiefChild flag from mux.parent.
  • ManagedBanner.tsx and managedBanner.css draw the line, using theme tokens, --text-detail and the 4/8/16 spacing scale. The gallery has agent-pane.managed-banner in three variants.
  • App.tsx mounts it as a status Notice right above the tray and composer.

Localization: managed.banner and managed.takeOver are added in all 21 pane locales; "Chief" is a product name.

Checks: cmux-ci test (linux-pool job f4a14b5265ea0ecd5fd0145c) ran bun test managedBy.test.ts and the full bun run check (design tokens, type scale, fmt, lint, tsc, catalog keys). All green.

Design: leo-workspace design/group-chat.md (settled rule 6).

Agent session: agent session

Summary by cubic

Shows who manages a chat the Chief or another agent runs, with a Take over button, like ChatGPT shows a chat its agent runs. A chat a Chief started shows "Chief is managing this chat"; a sub-session or chat another agent started shows that agent's chat name, which opens the managing chat.

Behavior

  • Take over hides the line for that chat on this Mac (local storage, capped at 200 chats) and focuses the composer.
  • The line appears only when the manager is in the session list, never on the person's own chats.
  • Holding the manager's later messages after Take over is a follow-up in acpmux.
