cmux NEXT model picker: menu not see-through, keys and effort on one right edge
Leo (2026-10-31): "plus all this dummy stuff in the model picker" (right after "why didn't you guys remove the icons nor the tokens", "nor align").
Two fixes to the compact model menu (QuickModelMenu.tsx, modelPicker.css). Spec: leo-workspace design/model-picker.md (updated in teamleaderleo/leo-workspace docs/model-picker-twins-right-edge). Symbols row, search, Legacy models, Account and Fast mode are unchanged.
- The menu is no longer see-through. The transcript behind it ("23m 43s Running", "Done") read through the list. It stays glass but takes the tint a translucent surface carrying text keeps (
--surface-text-min, 92%) and the menus' stronger frost (--ds-glass-menu-blur), in plain glass and under the lens. Reduce Transparency is unchanged (solid).check-glass-never-opaquepasses. - One right edge. The ⌘N keys were floating mid-row while the running row's "Medium ›" sat far right. Every model row now ends in the same trailing columns: effort, star, then the ⌘N key (or the running row's check) at the menu's edge. The model item spans the row, and the effort item and star sit over its empty columns, so a row with no effort or no star keeps its key in the same column.
Tests (cmux-ci, Linux Chromium): quick-model-menu-layout 21/21. New: every key and the check share one right edge, after the effort item and the star. check-glass-never-opaque and check-layers pass. The twin-mark badges for same-kind harnesses were taken out before landing (Leo, 2026-10-31: "WHY DO YOU GUYS STILL SHOW THESE AS SEPARATE HARNESSES"). Folding them into one tab with an account choice is a separate PR.
Risk: a CSS grid overlay on model rows (the effort item and star sit over the item's trailing columns). They are positioned siblings after the item, so they take the pointer. The gallery play composer-pickers#model-press-drag-release now releases on the row's name, since the row's centre is now the effort item. The keyboard order is unchanged.
Changelog
- The model picker menu no longer shows the chat through it, and its shortcut keys line up on one right edge.
