Leo, 2026-10-31: "i mean the linux things cant our minis just run them".

cmux#29130 (into feat-cmux-next) adds portable placement. It puts cmux-next-guards.yml's guard group, tooling tests and release-notary guards on the owned side label, but only while a side runner is idle. A job there can still be refused by a mini's runner hook or get stuck, and main's copy of scripts/ci/owned_pool_rescue.py (the copy that runs) must watch the workflow so the sweeper re-runs such a job. tests/test_ci_owned_pool_sources.py on feat-cmux-next fails for #29130 until main lists it:

.github/workflows/cmux-next-guards.yml: job ci-guard-group takes job portable-placement's output, which reads vars.CI_PR_POOL_OWNED

This adds the path to SIDE_WORKFLOW_PATHS, the same entry cmux-next.yml and cmux-tui-artifacts.yml have. A bot re-run (attempt 2) runs portable placement again, which places on a mini only if one is idle and otherwise takes Blacksmith.

risk:normal, CI rescue list only.

Observed / Not run

  • On this branch: tests/test_ci_owned_pool_sources.py and tests/test_ci_owned_pool_rescue.py pass (CMUX_OWNED_POOL_BRANCH=main). Until #29130 lands, the new entry is owned in neither branch, which this test only warns about for a feat-cmux-next-only workflow.
  • Not run: a live rescue of a cmux-next-guards run.

Summary by cubic

Adds .github/workflows/cmux-next-guards.yml to SIDE_WORKFLOW_PATHS in scripts/ci/owned_pool_rescue.py so main's rescue sweeper watches that workflow.

cmux#29130's portable placement puts the guard group, tooling tests, and release-notary guards on the side label only while a side runner is idle. A job there can still be refused by a mini's runner hook or get stuck, and without this entry the sweeper wouldn't re-run it.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated CI job scheduling so selected workflow jobs can use an available side runner. No changes to app features or behavior are included.
