cmux NEXT Home: the import suggestion is one glass row on the Chief's front page, never over the chat
On nightly 331e2e9 Home's import cards ("Bring your stuff to cmux" with Show All, then a Claude Code card and a Codex card, each with Show Chats / Not Now) floated over the Chief's transcript. ImportCardsStripView pinned them to the column's top at a hard-coded 80 pt, above the conversation's views, so the chat showed through and around them and the heading ran into message text.
Now the suggestion is one compact row on the Chief's front page, the empty Chief chat's first-run panel. It sits in the panel's own layout under the action rows (Start an agent, Open a terminal, Show Chief Pet), so it can't cover a message and doesn't depend on the header's height (#23796 removes the header).
ImportSuggestionRowView(new) is a 40 pt row on the sidebar cards' glass veil (CardSurfaceView), not an opaque card. It shows the first Home card's app icon, name and facts ("Claude Code", "1,002 sessions"), its button in the theme accent (Palette.accent) and Not Now. Show All (Settings › Import) appears only when there's more than one suggestion. A running import shows its status in place of the facts, with a 2 pt accent progress line. The row hides when there's nothing to suggest.HomeFirstRunView.accessoryis a new host-supplied row, placed under the action rows at the panel's column width. Its height counts when the panel fits its rows, and it leaves the layout while hidden.HomeHostViewinstalls the row throughHomeNativeTranscriptView.setFirstRunAccessory(_:).- Removed:
ImportCardsStripView(the floating strip and its cards) andColumnTopOverlays, which only the strip used, along with the transcript's top-overlay offset for the first-run panel.
Takes back #22710: its Home strip floated the import cards over the Chief's conversation (Leo 2026-10-21, nightly 331e2e9). Home gets one row on the Chief's front page instead; #22710's New Tab and Settings › Import cards stay.
Product call: the floating strip isn't worth keeping behind a toggle, because covering the chat is the bug. Debug Settings › Browser Import's suggestion cards switch (browserImport.suggestionCards, on by default) still turns every suggestion off. The New Tab cards and Settings › Import are unchanged.
Regression test

Capture
Steps: launch, raise two cookie suggestions with cmux action run import.suggest, then home.show on an empty Chief.

Observed / Not run
Observed: cmux-ci compile-check --ref 9cc677e --app passed (job 9d78bc042b93286c7dc4ecc8). The focused suites failed at the test commit and passed at the head, as above. Real-app captures of base and head came from a capture mini. prepush-gate.py reported no new violations. An independent review subagent posted SHIP at the head.
Not run: the full CmuxNextAppTests target, and a capture of a running import's progress line. I also didn't capture the row at Home pane widths under about 330 pt; the review notes its constraints get tight there, and that's a follow-up.
Changelog
Fixed: Home's import suggestion is one dismissible row on the Chief's front page instead of cards floating over the Chief's chat.
