Summary

  • Rename the primary CLI command from altimate-code to altimate for brevity
  • altimate-code is preserved as a backward-compatible alias (symlink on Unix, copy on Windows)
  • Updates all user-facing references: yargs descriptions, help text, command examples, Homebrew/AUR/Scoop/Chocolatey formula names, Docker entrypoint, MCP client name

What changed

  • Binary: altimate (primary), altimate-code (alias symlink)
  • Build: outputs altimate with altimate-code symlink in dist
  • Package managers: Homebrew, AUR, Scoop, Chocolatey all install as altimate
  • Docker: ENTRYPOINT ["altimate"] with altimate-code symlink
  • Source: all yargs descriptions, user messages, MCP client name, auth username
  • Git cache: .git/altimate with fallback to .git/altimate-code for backward compat

What did NOT change (intentional)

  • Config directory: .altimate-code/
  • Config files: altimate-code.json, altimate-code.jsonc
  • XDG/data directories: ~/.local/share/altimate-code/
  • Database: altimate-code.db
  • Provider ID: "altimate-code"
  • npm packages: @altimateai/altimate-code*
  • Domain: altimate-code.dev
  • GitHub repo name, API headers, workflow files

Test plan

  • All 1367 tests pass (including new backward-compat test for .git/altimate-code fallback)
  • Manual: verify altimate --help shows correct command name
  • Manual: verify altimate-code --help still works (alias)
  • Manual: verify .git/altimate cache file created on first run
  • Manual: verify old .git/altimate-code cache still resolved
